I just read about HR 2749, Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 at the FA/RM (Free Agriculture Restore Markets) site. One of the FAQs is: Q8: I am a raw milk consumer. Is it true that under HR 2749 would give FDA the power to institute a complete ban on the sale of raw milk? [...]

For years I advocated a plant-based diet as the healthiest. But I could never swing it myself despite several efforts. Now that I’m studying the paleolithic diet, I feel like I’m starting over with a mountain of information to climb. I haven’t been posting much because I’m reading, reading, reading. I’m reading even more than [...]

I was reading an article at the blog of Michael R. Eades, M.D. titled Snake oil comes in all types of bottles wherein Michael comments on the placebo affect in science and medicine. He wrote about studies of weight loss diets in conjunction with injections of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) that showed it worked no [...]

Another blog linked to my Switching from Raw Vegan Diet to the Paleolithic Diet post, so I went there to see who it was and thank them. I came across the following comment, which referred to that post, and I was taken aback. I was hurt by this person’s comment, because it was like I [...]

Take This Job and Shove It

by Joanne on June 9, 2009

in Mind and Emotion

That’s right. Monday I drove to the restaurant, handed my apron to the banquet manager and said, “I’m throwing in the towel.” Her response? “Okay.” That was it. No exit interview, no follow-up call by the general manager. (I understand they go through a lot of help there.) The last time I worked was Sunday [...]

I Hate My New Waitressing Job

by Joanne on June 2, 2009

in Business

I do some of my best writing in bed at night when my mind is tormented by fears and doubts. With the light off, I try to calm my agitated mind for sleep, but I eventually have to get up and start writing. I detest my new job. It’s not the waitressing that bothers me, [...]
