I Just Finished an 8-Day Fast for Health and Weight Loss

For my birthday I started the . I lasted about five days on that and ate a couple days of my customary diet. But I really wanted to change my eating habits, so I thought a fast was in order.

allows the body to live off its reserves instead going through the energy-intensive process of digestion. The freed energy is used to excrete toxins and substandard tissues, such as cysts, tumors and fibroids. It uses up fat as an energy source, and fat is the favored place for toxin storage. It’s like a spring cleaning for the body.

Anybody who’s done spring cleaning knows that while you’re cleaning you kick up a lot of dust, but afterwards the dust settles and you’ve had an overall decrease of dust in the home. When the body uses cell contents for fuel it dumps the toxins from them into the bloodstream for elimination. For me this resulted in weakness, fatigue, rapid and strong heartbeat, headache, foul taste in the mouth, and shortness of breath.

A fast is the period from the last food taken in until hunger returns, which can be anywhere from a few days (rarely) to a few months. Once hunger returns it is essential to begin eating, because the body is now in starvation mode and subsisting on essential tissues.

On day 8 I began obsessing about food and figured it was time to end the fast. It wasn’t hunger; just obsession. I also realized that I just had too many things I needed to get done, like getting a job.

While I didn’t accomplish my goal of a long fast, I’m overall very happy with my results. I broke the fast yesterday on two cups of juiced carrot and celery and then two cups of juiced carrot and cucumber a couple hours later. This morning I had a glass of fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, and boy was it sweet! It was delicious. In a little while I’ll have an orange. Then perhaps a tomato and cucumber salad. No oils.

My refrigerator is stocked with loads of green goodness. Now I need to get my hands on some grass-fed beef, but it’s so expensive buying from a retailer and I have no money. I’ve finally applied for foodstamps.

Since February 18 my total is 19 pounds and I’m feeling seeeexxxxxyyyyy. I can now fit into my size 12 pants. I’m stoked. Like a fire, baby!

If you’d like to lose weight and get in shape, just decide you’re going to do it. Maybe you skip a meal or have a salad with just lemon juice instead of a sandwich. For dinner have a few oranges or bananas instead of your typical meal. Begin incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet. They’re low in calories and high in nutrients and they burn clean. Take a walk. Anything. Just one little thing per day, then two, then three.

Here’s an inspiring video for you of what a fat person can do in a mere three months to improve their body:
