My first day, Thursday, on the 80/10/10 diet started strong. I bought five bags of fruits and salad greens at Erie County Farms, and while there started developing a headache. I tried to get enough calories in, but failed.
I was doing fine until I had some nuts in the evening. I shortly became nauseous and threw up several kiwi, oranges, celery and the nuts. By then my headache was a pounding misery. I slept from 10 p.m. until 9:30 a.m.
Friday I felt weak and my back ached. I found I had dropped 4.5 pounds. The headache continued the entire day. I had little appetite and consumed only a few bananas, oranges and tangerines.
In the evening I went back for the mixed nuts I’d tried eating the night before. After I ate a bowlful I estimated the weight and found to my horror that I had consumed 1,243 calories in nuts and was at 57 percent fat of calories consumed for the day. Whoops!
Saturday I did pretty well, but still I couldn’t get anywhere near the calories needed for the day. I had dropped another pound. The headache was gone. I was fatigued and spent the whole day reading. In the evening I started craving sunflower seeds, which are a comfort food as well as satisfying an oral fixation, and ended up eating two bags bringing me to 36 percent fat from calories consumed. (I’m supposed to consume no more than 10 percent fat.) The sodium in the seeds caused me to go up two pounds.
Weight loss in diets or fasting is predominently water loss, especially the significant loss in the beginning. In my instance, my body had excreted enough toxins and salts to be able to let go of the water keeping them in solution. When I ate the seeds, my body had to retain two pounds in water, roughly two pints, to dilute the sodium.
Today I’m still tired. Don’t feel like doing anything. My buttocks and the back of my legs ache. I’m also noticing shortness of breath. No headache. I really just want to lie down and sleep.
On the positive side: my body odor is gone.

Hi,
Wow you have had quite a reaction to the change of eating habits, I noticed mine were more in moods ie irritability, impatience feeling Jangled if that is such a word.
Saw your comments over at 30 bananas a day thought I would check out your blog, great work like the lay out and content.
look forward to reading more blogging of your journey
Hey, watzzup. Thanks for commenting. Yeah, detox is fun. I was also still withdrawing from caffeine when I started. That’s interesting that yours took the form of mood changes. My moods have been pretty steady. I’ve mostly just been tired with achy legs. I did eat quite a bit today and managed to get my calorie count in, though I’m still high on the fats (pesky toasted almonds at my friend’s house).
