Book Review: The 80/10/10 Diet — Douglas N. Graham

Balancing Your Health, Your Weight, and Your Life One Luscious Bite at a Time by Dr. Douglas N. Graham

A diet that sounds simple, healthy and expensive

Nothing’s better than finding a book on diet that’s written by someone trained in natural hygiene. The title 80/10/10 refers to a raw diet that is:

80 carbohydrates
10 protein
10 fat

This sounds like just the diet I’m looking for. I’ve been wanting to go raw for a few years, but I just couldn’t find a combination that was easy and healthy, one without processed oils, vinegars, powders, etc., one that wouldn’t leave me constantly standing in front of a juicer, dehydrator, blender, or food processor.

The only downside I see is the amount of food consumption necessary to fuel daily needs and the high cost associated with eating so much fruit. This is one EXPENSIVE diet.

Nice review Joanne. I hope you don’t mind that I posted a link to it on Doug’s forum. I think they will enjoy watching this.

BTW the cost to eat 811 is not expensive if you eat the fruits that are in season where you live (except in winter it is best to eat bananas). Also if you add the cost of the supplements, drugs (prescription and OTC), special superfoods like goji berries, cacao, etc., doctor visits, shampoos, soaps, toothpastes, and on and on, you’ll find that the 80/10/10 diet and lifestyle will cost the same or less than other diets. This is my exoperience at least. Some people spend just $5 to $10 a day on 80/10/10 (mostly with conventional bananas bought in bulk).

I just overcame a major ulcerative colitis flare-up without ever going to a doctor or using any supplement or medicine at all. I must have saved 1000s of dollars and possibly my life. Nothing knows better how to heal the body except the body.

Bananas are one of my least favorite fruits, but perhaps we can become better friends. They’re definitely affordable. I don’t buy any of those so-called “super foods.” I think they’re all a scam.

Have you seen David Wolf claiming he’s trying to make sacred alchemy chocolate? LOL!

Thanks for posting the review on vegsource.

I think This was an excellent book .Ive been practicing 80 1010 now for a month and a half with excellent results, I got rid of canida the first two weeks into it which I was battling for over a year. Lost 10 pounds that I wanted to lose for over a year, my digestion improved. and rashes on my face also disapeared. if I could see Dr. Graham Id give him a huge hug and kiss just to say thankyou and may God bless you , for being you.

That’s great you had such quick relief from candida. That would disprove Dr. Robert Young’s assertions about sugar. What were doing before trying to get rid of the candida?

Thanks for the great review. I enjoyed listening to you and hope you post more on this subject. I just started yesturday eatting 80/10/10. I ordered the book and can’t wait to read it.
I have always try to eat raw, but I am just not into all the gourmet stuff either :)
This just sounds Ideal for me…….Take care Shelly

Hi, Shelly. I’ve been meaning to change my review, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I tried this diet and it just didn’t work out, and after reading further on a high-fruit diet, I’ve decide that it’s not very healthy long-term. But give it a try and keep your mind open to other diet possibilities.
