I didn’t eat as much as I wanted today, but couldn’t eat more. I didn’t have a salad, because I got a hankerin’ for cooked food and made lentil soup with onion, celery and tomato. The soup was delicious. But I’ll tell you, lentil farts are unique in that they don’t smell like crap; they smell like sweet, fermented lentils. I farted all night. And in the evening when I lay down to sleep I had a mild case of heartburn. I think I’ll try sprouting the lentils next time (or at least soaking them overnight) before turning them into soup.
Yesterday I mentioned that I was carrying sixty extra pounds, forty gained after quitting smoking. I carried that weight for a couple years and refused to diet. Diets don’t work, so I didn’t fret about my weight. I just concentrated on the fact that I had quit smoking and the weight would come off when I was ready. Then last year I began making positive changes in my diet and dropped twenty-five pounds. So I have only thirty-five pounds I’d like to lose.
I had my first cup of tea around nine and shortly thereafter had a marvelous bowel movement that lasted all of ten seconds. (I forgot to mention yesterday that I usually have two cups of green tea with lemon in the morning. I don’t drink it for supposed health benefits, but because I’ve drunk coffee for thirty years and like a hot beverage in the morning.) Lately, I’d feel like I had to go but couldn’t. And then when I really had to go, the movement would be sluggish, which is unusual for me.
In my late thirties I dated a man with a fourteen-year-old son who wasn’t too consistent about flushing the toilet. His turds were beautiful, turds of the young and healthy. They were full and long. Huge really. I would gape in wonder and shout, “Oh my god, this turd is beautiful!” I could appreciate the health of the colon that produced such turds.
Midmorning I began coughing up some mucus, and I had to blow my nose. Now that I’ve reduced the toxins coming into my body, my body is able to begin lightening the internal toxic load, and it appears to be addressing congestion in my lungs.
